The Monroe Institute
(February 24th, 2026)

The Monroe Institute = Real-Life HogwartsI recently traveled to The Monroe Institute to learn remote viewing, and from the moment I arrived I felt an incredible sense of excitement and anticipation. Over the years I had heard many people—including Bob Monroe’s daughter—describe The Monroe Institute as something like a “real-life Hogwarts.” After experiencing it for myself, I can honestly say that comparison feels very accurate. The property has an epic, almost magical feeling to it. When you walk into the main building, it truly feels as if you are entering Bob Monroe’s home and the living history of the Institute. The architecture reflects decades of growth and evolution. Every section of the building feels like a chapter in a story that has been unfolding since the 1970s. You can literally see how the property has gradually adapted and expanded over the years to accommodate the incredible work that has taken place there. At the entrance there are two large paintings of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe that almost feel like they are welcoming you into the Institute. As you walk through the building you see photographs, decorations, and artifacts that celebrate the long history of the organization. It gives the feeling that the Institute is a living, breathing place where history continues to be written every day.Another nearby building is where many of the training sessions take place. It functions as a beautiful and comfortable conference space for the courses. Outside this building there is a very impressive mural that I learned was created over time by members of the Monroe Institute staff themselves. They spent countless hours building it piece by piece. At the center of the mural is a stunning wooden door with bronze handles that looks almost like a magical portal. The entire scene feels cinematic and deeply symbolic. When I was planning my trip, I initially learned that the guest rooms do not have bathrooms inside them. At first I was a little disappointed, because I assumed a private bathroom would be more convenient. However, once I arrived and understood how the Institute operates, I realized that this design actually makes perfect sense. The rooms are part of what are known as “CHEC units (Controlled Holistic Environmental Chamber),” where participants do deep listening exercises and meditation work. If bathrooms were inside the rooms, the sounds of toilets flushing, showers running, and plumbing noise would likely disrupt the quiet environment that is necessary for the work people are doing. After experiencing the program, I completely understood why the rooms are designed this way.I also mistakenly thought towels would not be provided, so I brought my own towels with me. It turned out I didn’t need to, because the Institute provides plenty of towels for guests. So that was simply a misunderstanding on my part. The main building also has a wonderfully cozy common area. There is a large glass table where you can find coffee, tea, snacks, juices, fruit, and other refreshments available 24 hours a day. There is also a refrigerator stocked with different kinds of milk, including regular milk, chocolate milk, coconut milk, and oat milk. The space feels very welcoming and comfortable.Right next to that area is a lounge-like section with couches where people can sit, relax, talk, and connect with other participants. It feels like a warm little living room where many great conversations happen throughout the day.Outside, the property itself is absolutely beautiful. One of the most striking features on the property is a massive towering six-foot rose quartz crystal that feels almost otherworldly, radiating a calm and beautiful energy that perfectly complements the spirit of the Institute. Walking through that area feels peaceful and almost protective in a way. The Institute is surrounded by stunning mountain views that make the environment even more inspiring.I attended during the winter, so unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to explore everything. The property includes a lake and a swimming pool that are available during the warmer months, and I would have loved to experience those. There is also an observatory area that guests can use to observe the night sky. I brought my binoculars with me, which I highly recommend doing. The first two nights were cloudy, but on my final night the sky cleared and I was able to see the stars clearly. It was a beautiful experience.Unfortunately, I became sick during my stay and had to leave after two and a half days. Even though I couldn’t complete the entire remote viewing training, I still had an incredible experience and learned a lot during the time I was there. One of the highlights was meeting Joe McMoneagle, who is widely known as Remote Viewer #001 for the United States government. Being taught by Joe was truly one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. He is a legendary figure in the world of remote viewing, and hearing his stories and learning from him directly was absolutely fascinating. Joe has played a role in helping locate missing children and has contributed to saving many lives through his work. It was an honor to meet him, and he even signed a copy of his book Remote Viewing Secrets for me. I also had the opportunity to give him a signed copy of my own book, We Are the Aliens.During my visit I also had the pleasure of meeting Allyn Evans, the CEO of The Monroe Institute. I was already familiar with her work because she has recorded many of the meditations featured in the Expand app. She was incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. She greeted me with a big smile and treated me as if we had known each other for years. It was wonderful meeting her in person.Another aspect of The Monroe Institute that impressed me deeply was the staff. Every single person I encountered was extremely helpful, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. The kitchen staff in particular were constantly checking in with participants to make sure everyone had what they needed. When I became sick, they went out of their way to take care of me. The night before I had to leave, they personally asked me what I would like for dinner and prepared a full meal for me. They were incredibly thoughtful and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of.I had seen a few online comments mentioning the food, but in my experience the food was excellent. There was a wide variety of meals, and the kitchen staff were very accommodating to dietary needs. If someone has a specific diet, they can simply let the staff know and meals will be prepared accordingly. In some cases, meals are even labeled with the participant’s name to make sure they receive the correct food.Even though my visit was shorter than planned, I was still able to experience remote viewing firsthand, and it was truly mind-blowing. I also witnessed several of my fellow students successfully perform their own remote viewing sessions, which was equally fascinating to watch.Because I had to leave early due to illness, The Monroe Institute followed their participant care protocol and provided me with a prorated credit that I can apply toward another program. I have already used that credit to register for the Gateway Voyage (virtual) program starting at the end of March, and for the Lifeline (virtual) program scheduled for August. I greatly appreciated how fair and supportive they were in handling that situation.Overall, my experience at The Monroe Institute was extraordinary. Even though I was only there for two and a half days, the environment, the people, and the work being done there left a profound impression on me.If I had to rate my experience, I would honestly give it 10 stars out of 5.I look forward to returning one day in the future—and who knows, perhaps even becoming a trainer there someday. If you are curious about consciousness exploration, remote viewing, meditation, or expanding the boundaries of human potential, I cannot recommend The Monroe Institute highly enough. It truly is a unique and special place. Like Hogwarts, but in real-life.
